Volunteer and make a difference.

Individuals, groups, organizations and companies can be a part of the Ready To Learn mission.

  • Conduct a drive for item(s) on our wish list (see below).  Contact us today at readytolearnstl@gmail.com or call Elise Tierney at 314-570-0116 to find out what is most needed.
  • Arrange a dress-down/dress-up day at your company or school. The funds you raise will buy books for the children we serve.
  • Host a children’s birthday or office “Party with a Purpose” using Ready To Learn’s mission as the theme. Instead of a host gift, guests bring books, stuffed animals (book buddies), or monetary gifts. This works for children’s parties too.
  • Invest your time sorting books or making “book buddies” in our warehouse space. Flexible hours and training available.
  • Join a school delivery team. Book Days are fun, and getting the kids excited about reading is what Ready To Learn does best.
  • Transport our books and stuffed animals to the warehouse. Picking up donations and delivering them to the warehouse is critical to our success.
  • Background checks are required for everyone over 18 if visiting a school, working in the warehouse or being a pick-up team member.

Looking to do something from home?

We always need help with washing the stuffed animals we receive. Special instructions are provided. In addition, sewing skills are appreciated in helping our wounded buddies have a second chance to be loved.

Ready To Learn Wish List:

  • New and gently used children’s books.
  • Emerging Reader books through 10th grade reading level are appreciated!
  • New and gently used stuffed animals.  Beanie Baby sized stuffed animals are preferred for use in our programs.
  • A company who would be willing to clean our buddies (stuffed animals) for the Ready To Learn programs.
  • Volunteer and make a difference in your community. Your time is appreciated. Individuals and organizations are welcome. Flexible hours and training are available.
  • Your financial support helps us to provide a quality product and bring Ready To Learn programs to more schools across the St. Louis area.

If you have a large group or organization, please e-mail us at  readytolearnstl@gmail.com and we can discuss our most needed items list for your drive.

“Sometimes I think I get more excited than the kids do when picking out the books!” Dale, a volunteer.
